Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta
About 5 km from the centre, this is the favourite cove of many locals. Clear turquoise water, pines running down to the shore and a laid-back feel. Cala Saladeta, reached on foot over the rocks (10 minutes), is even prettier and far quieter.
Tip: get there before 11:00 in summer — the car park is small. Bring water shoes for the rocky stretches.
Cala Bassa
One of the best-known beaches in the area, with white sand and shallow water that is perfect for families. It has full facilities: beach bars, sunbeds and the famous CBbC beach club. Get there by car (15 min) or by water taxi from Sant Antoni harbour.
Cala Comte (Cala Conta)
For many, the beach with the most spectacular water in Ibiza: unreal shades of blue facing the Ses Bledes islets. It is also one of the best sunset spots on the island. Very busy in summer — go early or mid-afternoon.
Caló des Moro and S’Arenal
If you are staying in Sant Antoni you will not even need the car. Caló des Moro, right by the Sunset Strip, is a small cove that comes alive at sunset. S’Arenal is the main town beach: easy to reach, with a seafront promenade and every service on hand.
Port des Torrent and Cala de Bou
In the Cala de Bou area, Port des Torrent is ideal with children: a sheltered bay, shallow water and fine sand. All along the Cala de Bou coast there are small rocky coves that are perfect for snorkelling.

Shade, sun protection and water are essential: many coves have little or no natural shade, and in July and August the sun shows no mercy.
