Sant Antoni bay is one of the best places in Ibiza to try paddle boarding for the first time: sheltered water, easy sandy entries and miles of coastline to explore. And few things beat paddling out towards the most famous sunset in the Mediterranean.

Sant Antoni bay
Sheltered from the prevailing winds, the bay is a huge, safe playground. Set off from S’Arenal or from the Cala de Bou side and follow the shoreline: you will see the town from an angle most visitors never get.
Two short routes we recommend
Even at beginner level, these two routes give you a lot in return for very little effort:
- S’Arenal → Caló des Moro → Cala Gració: 30–45 min hugging the north coast
- Cala de Bou → Port des Torrent: shallow water and little coves to stop for a swim
When to head out
First thing in the morning (8:00–11:00) the sea is usually like glass: by far the best time to paddle. A breeze tends to pick up around midday. For the sunset session, stay inside the bay and close to the shore.
Basic safety
SUP is very easy to pick up, but the sea is still the sea.
- Always wear the leash: the board is your buoyancy aid
- If there is an offshore wind (blowing out to sea), stay on land
- Waterproof sunscreen — out on the board the sun hits you twice
- A waterproof pouch for your phone, just in case and for the photos
